The Idea
Showing up for the city we call home.
Through Sunshine City Secrets, I've spent a lot of time highlighting some of the places that make Orillia special. I wanted to take that a step further and actually do something hands-on for the community.
Sunshine City Cleanup is a simple morning of community action — good people coming together to clean up part of the waterfront and give a little back before summer kicks off.
This is one small way I want my business to contribute locally, beyond just real estate.

The Details
Everything you need to know
When
Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A quick two-hour window — perfect for a weekend morning.
Where
Couchiching Beach Park in Orillia. Meet at the main parking lot entrance — you'll see the welcome table.
Supplies
Gloves and cleanup bags will be provided while supplies last. Just bring yourself and dress for the weather.
Who
Everyone is welcome — families, friends, solo, kids, dogs. No experience needed. Just a willingness to pitch in.
Focus
We'll clean the main beach, boardwalk, pathways, and surrounding green space along the waterfront.
Cost
Completely free. This is a volunteer community event — no strings attached, just people doing something good.
The Morning
What to expect
A simple, low-key morning. Show up, grab some gloves, and help clean up part of the waterfront. No pressure, no formalities.
9:45 – 10:00 AM
Arrive & Check In
Head to the welcome table near the main parking lot. Sign in, grab gloves and bags, and say hello.
10:00 AM
Quick Welcome
Victor will give a short 2-minute welcome — nothing formal. Quick overview of the zones and where to drop bags.
10:10 – 11:45 AM
Cleanup Time
Head to your zone and start collecting. Teams of 3–4, covering the beach, boardwalk, paths, and green space.
11:45 AM
Regroup & Group Photo
Everyone comes back to the check-in area. Drop your bags, grab a group photo by the water.
12:00 PM
That's a Wrap
Thanks for showing up. Head home knowing the waterfront looks a little better because of you.

Dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes. We'll provide gloves and bags. Bring water, sunscreen, and a good attitude.
Absolutely. Kids are welcome (with a parent or guardian). It's a great way to teach them about taking care of their community.
Light rain — we go ahead (bring a jacket). Heavy rain or thunderstorms — we'll postpone to Sunday, May 10 and update on social media by 7 AM.
